Healing HEART Sanctuary (HHS), a 501(c)(3) corporation,
respects the privacy of every individual who visits www.HealingHeartSanctuary.org
and is committed to protecting your privacy. We treat your privacy
as we do our own. This Privacy Policy is to let you know how we
treat your personal information and to show you all the ways we
work to keep it safe and private.
While visiting this website, you do not have to identify yourself
or divulge personal information. Personal information of all users
is collected, used, and disclosed as described here. If you should
choose to give us your personal information, to join a mailing
list or to participate in some other activity, you decide the amount
of information you provide. Although on some pages, specific information
is needed in order to participate in that program or activity,
such as signing up for a newsletter requires
you provide an email address.
There are a number of links provided on this website which takes
you off of our Healing HEART Sanctuary website pages and to a website
not directly related to HHS’ site. Once on any of those sites,
their privacy policies may be different than ours.
By visiting www.HealingHeartSancutary.org, you accept the practices
described in this Privacy Policy.
Collection and Use of Personal Information
We do not collect personally identifiable information from you
unless you provide it to us voluntarily and knowingly. For example,
to request information, donate, or volunteer online, we may collect
the following information: first and last name, email address,
street address, city, state, zip code, and telephone number. We
use the information you provide to respond based on your participation.
We do not share the information you've given us with unaffiliated
groups without your direct permission. We may share some of your
personal information with the following affiliated groups which
help us communicate with you in the way you’ve authorized
us to do:
- Affiliated Third Parties: Includes database administrators,
for the sole purpose of helping us do our work. These groups
do NOT share your personal information or use it for any purpose
other than as instructed by us.
- Third Party Administrators: Includes
organizations we engage to facilitate large distribution of messages.
The content of these emails will be from Healing HEART Sanctuary
solely and these third parties do NOT have direct access to your
personally identifiable information.

Personal information may be needed for certain optional online
activities:
- Donations: If you
choose to donate to our organization, we maintain a record of
your contribution. Your financial information will be treated
as confidential. We do NOT share any of our donor information
with any other organization or affiliate.
- Newsletter registration: If
you request to be added to our newsletter list, we will need
to collect your name and email address. Additionally, we ask
if you would like information on other topics.
- Volunteer: If
you would like information on volunteering, we will collect your
name, email address, and phone number, at minimum.
- Requests/Contact: If
you submit an online request or submit a question through a "contact us" page,
we may have to gather additional information from you to respond
to your request. Such information will vary with the request
but often includes name, email address, telephone number, and
sometimes address.
Your Options
We respect your privacy and allow you to restrict internal and
external sharing of your personal information.
Even if you provide your information to us for a specific purpose,
we recognize that you may wish to limit the ways in which we contact
you and offer the following options:
- Do not contact me by telephone.
- Do not contact me by postal
mail.
- Do not contact me by email.
- Do not contact me with fundraising
requests supporting Healing HEART Sanctuary
- Limit your fundraising
appeals to semiannual solicitations only.
- Do not contact me or
share my information with anyone.

with an opt-out request, all reasonable efforts will be taken to
ensure that you will not receive any of the selected communications
from us in the future. If you do not wish to opt out at this time,
you may do so at a later date should you so desire.
If you opt back into a specific service, you will receive communication
on that topic; regardless of your overall opt out selections. These
services may include newsletter subscriptions or email communication
by asking a question using "Contact Us."
Collection and Use of Children's Personal Information
As of January 5, 2009 Healing HEART Sanctuary does not solicit
or collect personally identifying information from children. Visitors
who are under 18 years of age should ask their parent or legal
guardian for assistance when using the site and should not submit
any personally identifying information to the site.
In the future we may develop children’s programs. At that
time, our policy may change but would require that children involve
their parent or guardian in the decision to provide any personally
identifying information.
Data Use
We limit the use of information provided to us on our Web site
to the following internal uses:
- If you do not make a service request, donation, purchase,
or otherwise identify yourself, we will have no personally identifiable
information about you. We will only use aggregate
information derived, in part, from your use
of our site to improve our site and our service to you. Aggregate
information refers to information most websites collect such
as which pages people in general are visiting, how long they
might stay on a page. It provides NO personal information but
it does provide information which helps us determine changes
we may need to make to our site, such as moving pages, expanding
sections, etc.
- We collect the email addresses of those who communicate
with us by email. Inquiries will be forwarded to the appropriate
HHS person for response and may be entered into our general database.
If your name is entered into the HHS database, we may contact
you to see if you are interested in receiving any of the information
outlined in Paragraph 3 below.
- If you provide personal information,
we will enter your name into our general Healing HEART Sanctuary
database and if you have provided permission to do so, we may
contact you in order to:
- Supply you with information including
HHS programs, events, and services;
- Advise you when Healing
HEART Sanctuary needs support in the form of donations
or volunteers;
- Provide the latest updates on the animals with
foster or adoption information as well as any other interesting
updates;
- Complete voluntary surveys seeking feedback for quality
and service improvement purposes;
- As previously discussed,
we occasionally hire other companies to provide limited services
on our behalf. We will only provide those companies the information
they need to deliver the service and prohibit them from using
that information for any other purpose.
How Do We Protect Your Information?
Our website has a number of security measures in place to protect
against the loss, misuse, or alteration of the information under
our control. Computer systems have restricted access limited only
to those persons and organizations necessary to the proper functioning
of Healing Heart Sanctuary. This access applies to all electronic
and physical security measures. Highly sensitive data information
is additionally secured through the use of encryption, such as
the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protocol.
Use of Cookies
As is true for most websites, when you visit the HHS website,
your browser may save a tiny piece of information on your computer.
This information personalizes and improves your experience online
as well as allows you to more quickly re-access pages you have
previously visited. HHS only accesses information set by www.HealingHeartSanctuary.org.
It is not possible and we do not attempt to access information
from other Web sites. Our cookies do not contain any personal identifiable
information.
Within your own computer system, you have the ability to accept
or decline cookies. Most Web browsers automatically accept cookies,
but you can usually modify your browser setting on your computer
to decline cookies if you prefer. If you choose to decline cookies,
you may not be able to fully experience all features of the Healing
HEART Sanctuary website.
Use of Web Beacons
When we send you emails, we may include a web beacon to allow us to determine the number of people who open our emails. When you click on a link in an email, we may record this individual response to allow us to customize our offerings to you. Web beacons collect only limited information, such as a cookie identifier, time, and date of a page being viewed, and a description of the page on which the Web Beacon resides (the URL).
Web Beacons can be refused when delivered via email. If you do not wish to receive Web Beacons via email, you will need to disable HTML images or refuse HTML (select Text only) emails via your email software.
IP Addresses, Log Files, and Data Analysis
As is true for most websites, we log IP addresses which describe
the location of your computer or network on the Internet. This
information is helpful for systems administration and troubleshooting
purposes. We may also use third-party services such as Google Analytics.
These practices help us understand traffic patterns and know if
there are problems with our website.
We may also use embedded images in emails to track open rates
for our mailings. This practice helps us determine which mailings
appeal most to Healing HEART Sanctuary members. URLs contained
in emails may contain an ID that enables us to correctly identify
the person who takes an action using a web page. We use these URLs
to simplify the process of accessing a specific page. We may occasionally
present a shortened URL that references a longer URL which contains
an idÑ; we do this to simplify the display, to prevent links
from becoming broken when copied, and to ensure compatibility with
email programs which do not handle long URLs. When a shortened
URL is displayed in an email, you will see the full URL in the
browser's address bar when you access the page.
Changes to this Policy
Healing HEART Sanctuary may occasionally update this Privacy
Policy, especially as new features are added to this website. If
there are material changes to this policy or in how we will use your
personal information, HHS will prominently note such changes at
the time of their implementation --
